The Ebon Hawk was a flying heap'o'junk the pride and joy of the exchange smugglers, who found it easy to outrun republic trade control ships (well, most of the time).

Construction
Actual facts about its construction are mostly lost to the eons. In other words, it's so freakin' ancient, it's a wonder it still flies (or does it?). A good way to verify that it's so old is to ask old people about it, as even Yo Mama, or even Yo Grandmama are bound to have heard a couple of legends about it when they were little!
History
The earliest (written, I guess) account about the ship is an engraving on the wall of a cave on Tatooine (again, Tatooine). To some experts this may suggest that it had nothing to do with Darth Vader's appetite for destroying planets. Other scientists wonder if those experts are still alive as we speak, though nobody knows.
Characteristics
The Ebon Hawk was constructed mainly out of modern, high-tech lightweight materials, such as cardboard and plastic, giving it its formidable speed and agility. This also explained why the miming droids on Telos II+III.5 could fix it so fast, and why they had to leave in all that scaffolding that Bao-Dur used to mess around with all the time (hey, at least you knew where to find him, not like T3-M4).
