"Kintan strider, I choose you!"
C-3PO, playing dejarik

Dejarik was a silly but addictive game played on holographic boards. Most of the time spent playing dejarik was "ranching" one's monsters and boosting their Power, Life, Defense, Skill, Speed, and Intelligence stats, spending virtual money on virtual feed, breeding them, and perfecting them. Finally, the players waited for their friend to arrive (assuming the sad little buggers can find a friend), and their monsters did battle on a chessboard. Technically, dejarik was a turn-based game, but the monsters sometimes grew bored if they hadn't moved in a while and started attacking each other.

Dejarik was also known as "holochess," despite the fact that it was absolutely nothing like chess at all, and on French speaking planets it was known as déjàrik... wait, didn't I say that before?

The best dejarik player in the galaxy was Chewbacca. Go ahead. Try and suggest otherwise.
